Emma has in-the-field experience across a multitude of commercial, restructuring and M&A transactions; from launching & running start-up ventures & fundraising to large corporate acquisitions, joint ventures & dispositions.

In addition, her research & analytical work have supported clients in major disputes / arbitrations, high-pressure negotiations and senior stakeholder decision-making.

Her experience lies in the energy, education & tech sectors (incl. software & robotics), and spans a global client base including work in Egypt, Japan, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Rwanda, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Trinidad, U.K. and the USA.

RECENT NOTABLE EXPERIENCE:

  • Head of Strategy & Operations at a VC-funded UK EdTech startup, responsible for design & implementation of the company’s long-term growth strategy, investor relations, and driving scalability & operational improvements across their London, Boston & Cape Town offices.
  • CEO of a UK EdTech startup recognised by Sir Richard Branson & Steve Wozniak as ‘Best Idea – One to Watch’ EMEA in 2017. Work closely with schools, employers, students and the Government and responsible for business & product development, alongside go-to-market & commercial strategy.
  • Supporting global industrial conglomerate in the design & successful execution of its international M&A strategy, analysing strategic, operational and financial aspects of existing portfolio and a multitude of acquisitions, JVs and dispositions. Led cross-functional due diligence teams of up to 200 people to drive the internal deal approval process.

  • Various Equity & Debt deals whilst working at major Investment Bank, incl.: E.on’s loan refinancing, Hapag Lloyd’s hybrid debt restructuring, Orascom / Weather Group’s restructuring, Statoil E&R’s spin off and market listing, and Telefonica’s acquisition financing.
  • Built a ship scheduling & operational model (simulating a range of complex scenarios) for one of the busiest ports in the world and Asia’s first multi-user LNG terminal (a project valued at US$1bn).
  • Launched a new Joint Venture between two global engineering companies. Responsible for valuation, budgeting and developing the business plan & operating model. Also supported on recruitment, branding & media launch of the new venture.
  • Analytical support for a variety of Energy contract disputes (& Expert Witnesses), incl. European Government as Claimant in SCC gas supply arbitration (US$1.9bn in compensation sought).
